I can not say enough good things about our web developer, Josh Crews. He did a brilliant job on our website and guided us in directions that we couldn't see until he showed us. Josh is a great teacher, patient, easily accessible and honest. I just had to ask him a few questions because I think he is just amazing!
Where did you get the name "Ruby on Rails"?I think I ought to change this--it sounds like the name of a drag queen! "Ruby on Rails" is the name of the programming language and framework I use to build websites and web software quickly. You can check it out at http://www.rubyonrails.org. On my website I used to say, "So you've heard of Ruby on Rails... give me call" because people were finding by searching for that term. I think I'll update that part of my website to say something else.
What inspired you to own your own business?I think I have the soul of a 1600's English Puritan who desires to run his own craftsmanship business. Back then it would have been metal-working, or doors; but I live in the 21st century and enjoy creating software and websites.
What's your favorite coffee house beverage or treat?I am delighted to have a regular coffee and coffee cake from a place like Sweet 16th Bakery in the neighborhood.
Where do you see your business 5 years from now?In 5 years, I would like to have a team of 4-5 employees all working from the huge house we bought to renovate near Dickerson Rd. I'd like some of them to be teenage boys that can be apprenticed to learn a profession/craft (software development). I have a heart for helping young guys develop into workers, leaders, husbands, and fathers. (As opposed to video-gamers delaying becoming men into the mid-30's.
